Dr. Clemens Schütte,
Managing Director,
German Exposition Corporation International GmbH

Born in Bonn in 1967, Dr. Clemens Schütte studied economics and history at the University of Freiburg (South Germany). He wrote his doctoral thesis on privatization and the regulation of capital markets in Eastern Europe at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder. He was a scholarship holder of Konrad Adenauer Foundation and worked as lecturer at the University of Olomouc (Czech Republic) and as research fellow at the Frankfurt Institute of Transformation Studies in Frankfurt/Oder and the Centre for Economic Research and Graduate Education of Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). He is reserve officer of the German military services with the rank of First Lieutenant.

Clemens Schütte held various management positions in the German and international financial services industry. His focus was on the development of sales channels, the launch of new products, mergers & acquisitions and controlling. He contributed to the set-up and development of the sales forces of subsidiaries of HypoVereinsbank and Allianz in Central Eastern Europe. Before joining the exhibition industry, he worked as regional manager responsible for the Czech and Slovak Republics in the headquarter of Allianz AG in Munich.

Since 2000, Clemens Schütte has been Director of International Business of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, a leading player in the international exhibition industry. His responsibility includes nine international group companies and 71 international representatives worldwide. From that time, Clemens Schütte has been playing also a key role in the development of Shanghai New International Expo Centre Ltd. (SNIEC), the leading trade-fair center in the Asia-Pacific region which is based in Shanghai’s special economic zone Pudong. Since 2005 he has been holding the position of a Board Member and Vice Chairman of SNIEC. In 2006, he joined the Management Board of German Exposition Corporation International GmbH. He is Chairman of the German-Chinese Business Association (DCW) for the region of North Rhine-Westphalia.
